FUELING DISCUSSION

First and foremost: DO NOT USE CHEAP CHINA S*IT WHEN IT COMES TO FUELING!!! China injectors and fuel pumps (knock off non name brand) are by far one of the easiest ways to ruin your engine. Fuel pumps cant flow what they are rated for and injectors can lockup causing a piston to melt, have poor atomization and worse they do not flow evenly. We will discuss some cost effective fueling options later in this post.

Personally I do not recommend using Bosh 440cc “green giants” part number 0280155968. These injectors cost on average $100 more than any of the ones listed ^^ above and they flow less than all of them. The 440s are an old design and do not have the best atomisation compared to the newer series injectors such as the 630cc 0280158298 as they have 16 holes compared to the 440s 4 hole spray pattern. Also, the 440cc injectors are one of the most copied “cloned” (low quality Chinese copies) and are sold as the real thing on ebay and amazon. However,  you can spot these fakes as the price is normally ⅓ the price or less than that of the original (real Bosch) injectors. There are other ways to distinguish a clone from a original, google bosch 440s real vs fake and watch some of the flow testing and comparison videos if you want to go down that rabbit hole.


Siemens Deka 630cc injectors part number FI114961 are ones to consider avoiding as well for the same reasons as the Bosch 440cc injectors. The Deka 630s are overpriced,Old technology,and highly copied “cloned” (low quality Chinese copies).

When you start getting to the 400+ horsepower range and use ethanol based fuels 800+cc injectors are required. Unfortunately top shelf high flowing injectors can cost $400+ usd putting a good dent in any build budget. Fortunately budget high flowing injectors do exist in the form of “decaps”. Decapped injectors IS just like what the name sounds like, you remove the flow restrictor of the smaller flowing injector allowing the injector to flow the max amount threw the valve body. Not all injectors are decapable, from what I've seen personally only some Denso, Keihin and Delphi injectors can be decapped. Common ones to see decapped are Flex fuel Silverado truck injectors, standard Silverado Delphi injectors, Volvo s40 Denso injectors, and 8th gen civic Keihin injectors. Spray patterns are not the best, the important thing is the name brand valve body that will not lockup under high rail pressure and demand. By far the volvo s40 injectors have the best decapped spray pattern and flow 780cc at 3 bar and 912cc at 4 bar base fuel pressure.

The Volvo injectors cost about $60-$80 USD for a set of 5 leaving plenty of extra money to have your freshly decapped injectors flow tested. The Silverado Flex fuel injectors are very similar to the Volvo s40 injectors but cost a bit more as availability is a bit less and they are known for being a good budget minded injector. I have use them in VW / Audi, Honda, Subaru and Chevy / GMC vehicles with great success. The Silverado flex injectors normally cost about $145 for a flow tested set already decapped ready to go Hunter Tuned sells them and is a good reputable supplier for the Silverado decaps. Large flowing injector options continued: When it comes to name brand large flowing fuel injectors 750cc and above some of the better options you will find are Siemens Deka 850cc (80lb) and Bosch 750cc. Also, what you will find is that most of the Bosch injectors that are larger than 750cc are “recores” AKA decaps. For example Grams ev14 1000cc injectors are purely decapped Bosch injectors and  Fuel Injector Clinic’s EV14 1000cc injectors are made the same way. You will find the stock part numbers rubbed off and relabeled as FIC or Grams.
Thanks to the Bosch valve bodies the injectors work perfectly and they are sold in flow matched sets. The biggest downside is the price tag… $350-$600 depending on the supplier.  Once you get into the 750cc + sizes the spray pattern is basically a cone shape, all ones listed above have the same general spray pattern.
